We all may think that we have all the time in the world to prepare for thunderstorms in our community. While we are grateful that our forecasts and local authorities are able to give us advanced notice of incoming weather, we truly don’t know what is in store for us until the storm has arrived. 

What may have been predicted as a moderate thunderstorm could quickly intensify and bring serious rain, intense wind and large hail. Even a tornado or straight-line winds could impact your home without much warning.

These types of situations are always unexpected, so using caution when walking around your home can help you stay safer before, during and after a storm. 

After the Storm Passes

Once the first storm cell passes over your home, don’t be too quick to jump out of your safe sheltering location. We all know that another storm cell could be right on the horizon. Walk about carefully, carrying your phone and weather radio with you.

If any family members were out of the home when the storm arrived, check in with them right away to ensure their safety. You should also take this time to check on your neighbors. Storms can follow distinct paths and while your home may have been spared, your neighbors might not have been.

Once everyone is safe and the whole storm system has moved on, it’s time to now survey your home and get started on the restoration process. Take pictures of whatever damage you uncover and give us a call right away so we can get started on your restoration.
